职位介绍: The Customs and Trade Compliance Director – China leads all customs and trade compliance activities across China, ensuring the compliant and efficient movement of medical devices and equipment across borders. This role supports organizational objectives by enabling business growth, operational excellence, and a strong culture of compliance. The position requires deep expertise in China trade regulations and global compliance frameworks, along with the ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, international environment. This leader partners closely with global compliance, legal, regulatory, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and adoption of best practices. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role navigates complex regulatory environments while providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on trade-related risks and opportunities. Roles and Responsibilities • Leadership & Team Development o Build and lead a high-performing trade compliance organization across China o Develop talent, set clear goals, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement o Drive alignment and collaboration across global, regional, and cross-functional teams • Strategy & Governance o Define and execute China trade compliance strategy aligned with global policies and business objectives o Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on regulatory risks and trade developments o Establish and maintain strong governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks • Regulatory Compliance & Execution o Ensure full compliance with China import/export regulations and customs requirements (GACC, MOFCOM, China Handbook, AEO certifications, ETC) o Oversee key compliance activities including classification, valuation, origin, licensing, and duty optimization o Lead audits, investigations, and corrective actions to maintain compliance integrity • External & Internal Stakeholder Management o Serve as the primary interface with customs authorities and regulatory agencies o Represent the organization in audits, inspections, industry forums, and regulatory discussions o Build and influence strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all levels • Global Integration & Operational Excellence o Collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure alignment and integration of China requirements into global frameworks o Oversee import/export operations and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and compliance o Implement scalable processes, systems, and controls to support business growth • Problem Solving & Risk Mitigation o Lead resolution of complex regulatory and operational issues o Assess risks, challenge assumptions, and develop practical, compliant solutions o Proactively identify and mitigate trade compliance risks while driving sustainable improvements Required Qualifications • Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken) • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) • 10–15+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or international logistics in China • Deep expertise in China import/export regulations and customs practices • Strong experience working with China customs authorities • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a global, matrixed organization • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to influence, negotiate, and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams Desired Characteristics • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries • Strong understanding of global trade compliance frameworks and cross-border operations • Familiarity with ERP systems and trade compliance technologies • Demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships across cultures • Global mindset with strong business and trade acumen • Experience contributing to global compliance strategy and policy development • Advanced capabilities in risk management and operational excellence • Track record of driving continuous improvement and scalable compliance solutions
