GENERAL • Job Title: (Senior) Medical Scientific Liaison • Division/Department: Medical-Marketing/Medical Affairs • Reports To: MSL manager OVERALL JOB PURPOSE AND PRIMARY ACTIVITIES The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a non-promotional role,who engages in scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and scientists (HCPs), with emphasis on regional and national scientific leaders and key decision makers. The MSL is responsible for the territory medical activities. Although the Medical Advisor/Therapy Area Lead is the owner of the strategic plan, the MSL may also provide input and insight based on his/her stakeholders’ engagements into the Medical Affairs strategy and ensure that it translates into concrete engagement (action) plans in the field. The MSL is involved in local strategic planning and execution of Salubris corporate and brand medical strategies. The MSL should be able to demonstrate on-going scientific and business expertise relevant to the Salubris portfolio. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Territory medical strategy and plan of action:  Ensure that the assigned geographic territory and/or local medical strategy and operation plan is strategically aligned with the Medical Affairs Plan  Provide customer insight input into the therapeutic area Medical strategy led by the Medical Advisor  Facilitate clinical trial operation in assigned territory e.g. study site kick-off, regional PI cooperation to support investigators meeting, ensure commercial team to understand and engage the project operation.  Develop regional medical meetings in assigned territory aligned with Medical Affair Strategy and Brand Strategy, e.g. AB meetings for medical launch or special topics, investigator meetings for clinical trials, medical presentation for brand activities in 3rd party academic meetings. 2. Stakeholder relationship:  Be aware of all Scientific Leader (SL)/Key Decision Maker (KDM) in his/her territory.  Drive customer insight collection and communicates actionable items to Medical Affairs Leadership and other internal stakeholders, as appropriate.  Collate insights that will be shared internally as appropriate, e.g. Customer insight collection and dissemination, strategic relationships with medical and scientific experts  Lead regional KOLs management and speaker development:  Contribute as a member on internal project teams representing Field Medical Affairs and customer perspectives  Lead or co-lead any assigned regional or national MSL project management as local field medical representative by working closely with Medical Operations team and Medical Affairs Manager/ Advisor.  Together with Medical Operations, to ensure standardized process in conduct of field activities and objective setting, tracking and evaluation across Therapeutic Areas. 3. Training and cooperation: • Support training of medical knowledge, pharmacovigilance/AE, medical FAQ as necessary Improved scientific source in commercial team • Ensure that there is adequate and compliant cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders 4. Budget management: • Budget Planning and Resource Management REQUIREMENT Education Advanced scientific degree is strongly preferred, such as MD (or equivalent MB.Ch.B.), PharmD, or PhD in a life science, preferably with clinical knowledge of assigned therapeutic area. At minimum, college education degree in pharmacy. Experience • Industry experience of 3 years minimum in Medical Affairs is required and therapeutic area experience is desirable • Previous experience as a MSL is required. • People management experience is strongly preferred • Demonstrated people or project management and team leadership skills, as well as listening and coaching skills, preferred • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific strategy into tactical and implementation plans • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong problem solving skills • Strong ethics and integrity. • Ability to work in high performance teams, and in a matrix organization. Ability to negotiate and influence others. • Excellent team player; must excel at teamwork in cross-functional groups. Must be able to interact successfully with a variety of individuals at the local level, including Medical Advisors working in different therapeutic areas, sales teams, commercial teams and contract research organizations (CROs).
