The Food Scientist – is a project manager within the Research & Development Team and is responsible for: • Deliver business objective through planning, initiation and execution of cross-functional projects • Lead product development initiatives through leveraging new or existing technology • To develop new products or deliver product enhancements and cost reductions • Facilitate cross functional discussions to gain consensus on complex projects • Manage and provide leadership on all technical facets of complex projects; including all approval steps, documentation, risk identification, management of technical resources and project timelines Responsibilities and Accountabilities: New Product Development : • Formulate and develop NPD from ideation to implementation across categories • Feasibility check and technical requirements check. • Complete Feasibility Report • Complete initial FS/QA risk assessment • Product Development Brief, responsible for confirming the COS will be validated • Provide input to ball park costs • Develop product in line with COS • Pilot trail support, post pilot trail summary and learnings • Revise BOM based on the data collected from Pilot Trail • PLM document preparation - recipes, specifications and product instructions for new products and/or alterations to existing products • Draft Restaurant SOP • Mass production run preparation • Complete handovers to operation teams • Post launch visit • Menu application training • Participate in continuous improvement & innovation activities as required Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in food science, agricultural or relevant majors, Master's degree in food science or agricultural is a plus • 3+ years' experience in the development of food products including concept development, laboratory trails and production trails • Experience in ingredient functionality and evaluation of raw materials related to food • Track record of innovation and contribution to continuous improvement processes • Strong logical and lateral thinking skills with capacity for innovation • High level of competency in computer-based communication and information management tools • Flexibility and time management to handle a range of tasks with changing priorities. • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands • Research best practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results • Good command of both oral and written English
