About this team
The Store Development team helps spearhead the company’s brick and mortar growth through the acquisition, design and construction of new stores. While helping our organization expand its footprint within the region, we are also responsible for keeping our internal stakeholders closely informed as we grow.
A day in the life:
In this role, you will be responsible for the design of our retail stores, serving as the main point of contact for all design-related matters, both regionally and internationally. Each department relies upon your skill-set and expertise to ensure their operational needs are considered and incorporated into the design of each store.
The ability to openly and effectively collaborate across different departments and markets is absolutely essential in this role. Not only is there frequent co-creation within the local organization, however you will also connect with our global design team in Vancouver from time to time. In this role your key responsibilities will include:
Localization of design concepts originally intended for the North American market
Presentation of draft and final layouts and renderings to key stakeholders in local market
Representation of the China market’s needs and requests during meetings with the global design team
Close collaboration with Construction Managers as well as external vendors to ensure exact design intent is followed
Occasional travel to gain a fuller understanding of city and site surroundings
Preparation of documents for architectural planning such as floor plans, displays, counters, changing room facilities, and other store elements
Selection of store material selections; flooring, ceiling, walls etc.
Creation of ceiling plans and any other lighting-related drawings and elements
Responsible for elevations and store-front design
Coordination with architects to review permits and construction drawings
Researching of new innovative methods and materials for sustainable and “green” design
Management of architect timelines, test fits and project handover dates after DD’s are complete and the bidding and buying processes are ready to begin
Accountability for the accuracy, quality and timeliness of all construction documents
Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
10+ years design work experience
Project management experience required
Experienced in retail design
Knowledge of landlord approval process (expectations, processes, guidelines etc.)
Versed in conceptual design and architectural drawings
Proficient in AutoCAD, 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up, MS Office, Excel
Ability to create complex design solutions with minimum supervision
Open and effective cross-functional collaboration skills
A creative flair within a certain set of parameters
Ability and willingness to handle multiple projects at any given time
Speed, efficiency and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Highly motivated, detail-oriented and dependable
Strong team player as well as capability to work independently
