The Director, Corporate Communications position will be responsible for developing and implementation of a China Corporate Communications strategy across divisions and leading the Novartis China cross-divisional communication committee. Strengthen/build a strong network and partnership to drive the success of all external and internal communications activities in key projects and programs. Support the internal cultural building, change initiatives, organizational restructuring and enhance the external corporate brand awareness and image.
Major Accountabilities (Describe the 8 -12 main results of the role to be achieved )
• Corporate Branding - Develop and implement a China Corporate Communications strategy and plan to enhance corporate brand name and image. - Develop, coordinate and execute communication initiatives in support of key Corporate/CSR stories - Craft key messaging and high-quality materials that elevate our storytelling and deepen relationships with our stakeholders - Oversee a pipeline of news announcements, media pitches, bylined articles and expert commentary - Supervise a wide range of content such as press releases, media pitches, award applications and third party requests for information • External Communication - Drive strategy to strengthen/build media/third party relationships via high-value engagements, briefings and proactive outreaches - Work alongside Public Affairs to ensure coherence (eg., 中宣部，网信办) - Be a principal contact for media relations including briefing the CEC and senior management for media activity and crisis/reputation management; • Internal Communication - Organize the cross-division communication council; Drive cross-division/function initiative - Harmonize one Novartis voice when represent cross-division to give external announcement and press release - Work with HR, IT and other functions to promote Novartis culture internally and enhance employee engagement - Work with CSR team to communicate storyline internally and externally. • People and budget management
University degree in relevant area (strategic communications, change communications, organizational development) MBA or another professional qualification will be a plus Good writing skills in Chinese for release, editorial story development Excellent English skills in writing and speaking
• Minimum 10 years’ experience across media relations, corporate communications, crisis management, government relation and/or marketing communications; At least 5 years` experience in the field of corporate communications in MNC preferably • Minimum 10 years in reporting and/or editing for English & Chinese-language publications preferred; • Experience and proven track record in crisis/Issues management related to employee topic • Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills • Good interaction and influencing skills with various stakeholders including internal at all levels and external (media, KOLs and industry associations) • Able to work efficiently under pressure and at multiple tasks • Excellent with digital, electronic and social media use for internal purpose
